J. Holland
J.
Holland, a 31-year broadcast veteran, has worked almost every job in
broadcast with the exception of General Manager and Chief Engineer. Born
in 1956, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, Holland grew up in Dalton, Georgia.
It was in Dalton at WTTI-AM that the broadcast bug first bit him
during his junior year at Valley Point High School. “I
was scared to death!” recalls Holland. “Mic-fright had me so
nervous I was shaking the copy hard enough that it was being picked up
on the venerable old RCA DX-77 microphone at WTTI!” Holland
went on to college at Jacksonville State University in the fall of
1974 and got involved in the campus radio station, WLJS-FM when it
signed on the air in October 1975. Later, in 1976, he was hired by
WQEN-FM Gadsden (Q-104) to work weekends, and later, the 7 p.m. to
midnight shift. “Those
early years really meant a lot to me,” said Holland, who now
single-handedly hosts and produces the Morning Show on WAAX-AM,
Gadsden. “I got a good foundation and have always felt radio was a
fun job that was both rewarding and gratifying too.” Holland’s
civic activities over the last 25 years are too numerous to mention.
But when it comes to volunteering, people always call him… and he
always comes through. “My
proudest moments are when something I say has an impact! Whether it is
a philosophical point or a live spot for an advertiser, radio gets
results! I’ve
seen it…I’ve lived it!” | Choose The DJ of Your Choice |
